Traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) significantly impact children and adolescents, often occurring during contact sports. This study aims to synthesize literature on the knowledge, attitudes, and skills related to the prevention and first aid management of dental injuries among physical education students.Methods A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. Six electronic databases (Web of Science, PubMed, Wiley Online Library, Dentistry & Oral Science Source, Medline, and SCOPUS) were searched for cross-sectional questionnaire-based studies evaluating knowledge, attitudes, and skills related to the prevention and first aid management of traumatic dental injuries among physical education students.Results The included studies consistently demonstrated insufficient knowledge of dental trauma management among physical education students, particularly regarding tooth avulsion, replantation procedures, appropriate storage media, and the practical use of mouthguards. Most respondents reported limited formal education in dental trauma first aid despite frequent exposure to sports-related injuries.Conclusion Physical education students demonstrate insufficient knowledge of emergency management of traumatic dental injuries and the use of mouthguards. Incorporating dental trauma education into physical education curricula may improve the preparedness of future trainers and teachers.
